what is scalp scarring?
The scalp is one of the thickest parts of skin on the body. Due to this if you injure your scalp or have surgery then it will more than likely cause scarring. Some scar tissue is too thick for hair growth, making the scars more obvious to others as hair grows around the scar.
A lot of scalp scars are caused by hair transplants, there are two different hair transplant procedures that leave different forms of scarring.
FUE, Follicular Unit Extraction, is where hair follicles are extracted individually from the back and sidesand placed in the balding area, this creates minimal scarring, but the can become more noticeable with hair growth.
FUT, Follicular Unit Transplantation, is where thousands of hair follicles are removed all at once in a strip and then placed in the balding area. These usually causes more severe and noticeable scarring.
how can smp solutions help?
Scalp micropigmentation can conceal scarring by implanting pigment on and around the scar to create the illusion of hair follicles. Scarring can be hard to camouflage as the tissue is so thick, but with our extensive knowledge and expertise we are able to perfectly execute SMP to blend with the natural hair follicles, disguising the the scar.
Also the scalp micropigmentation procedure can help to soften the scar tissue, which helps to restore health to the injured skin.
